Job Advertisement

Taken from an "Advertisement Feature" in a local paper. Date unknown, but probably early 1970's

Anyone want a job?

"Third Generation" - What where generations one and two? My guess is that the LEO's were one of those generations, but what could the other have been? An abacus ? It could mean Gen 1 - LEO, Gen 2 - Univac 1108 and Gen 3 - Univac 1106, but the 1106 was a down scoped 1108.

  1. Dave,

My recollection is that 3rd generation was a term used to describe computers which in addition to being based on integrated circuits possessed the software structures to support a true multi-programming capability. So suspect the ad refers to the 1108, although it's possible that the Leo 360 would qualify.
